A Simple Guide to Choosing the Right Strapping for Your Packages

Strapping looks simple, but choosing the right type actually makes a huge difference in how well your packages hold up.

Here’s an easy guide:

PP Strap (Polypropylene) – Best for Lightweight Boxes

It’s flexible and affordable.
If you’re strapping small e-commerce parcels or regular cardboard boxes, PP works perfectly.

PET Strap – Stronger and More Durable

Better for heavier items.
PET has great tension retention and won’t loosen during transport.

Steel Strap – When You Need Maximum Strength

This is the “no joke” option.
If you’re dealing with bricks, metal pipes, lumber, or machinery, steel strap is unbeatable.

Quick Tip:

If you’re not sure which one to use, just look at the weight:

  • Under 40–50 lbs → PP

  • 50–150 lbs → PET

  • 150 lbs+ → Steel

Choosing the right strap helps avoid broken boxes, loose pallets, and unnecessary headaches.
